Red Storm Rising

So I’m sitting here at the computer and all of a sudden, out of nowhere, it starts pouring with rain.  There’s thunder and lightning going off right now, another Texas-style summer storm.  The wind is howling, I can feel the air pressure in my apartment changing, and my light fixtures are swinging on their chains.

Every time the lightning goes off it illuminates the whole area of my apartment complex.  Coming from Texas I’m used to this being tornado weather.  I just had a horrifying vision in my mind as the lightning went off:  me, standing in the window of my 25th story apartment, looking out as a tornado ripped through the courtyard. 

I think I’d shit myself right before I got sucked outside.

Lucky you. Some of us were outside in that. Sure looked cool but my flimsy little folding umbrella wasn’t worth much. Probably just as well. If it were bigger I’d have gotten a flying lesson.
Riding the rail line in a thunderstorm is really something.
