Home Entertainment

So I did a little DVD shopping today.  I bought:

The Brave One
Transformers
Superbad
28 Weeks Later
The Futurama Movie
30 Days of Night
Sin City Director’s Cut
Hot Fuzz
Terminator
Terminator II
Terminator III
Boston Legal, Seasons 1-3

The grand price?  ¥440, or $60.

I also bought a bunch of groceries at Jenny Lou’s, the preferred grocery store of foreigners since it carries items from all over the US and Europe.  Now I’m off to IKEA to buy a frying pan, since I forgot to buy one last time, so I can make chicken quesadillas for dinner.

Superbad is funny as Hell.

Manda, I thought you would have preferred “Knocked up” for...obvious reasons…

JUST KIDDING!  grin

New episodes of Futurama are supposed to be coming out next year.

Make sure you get cast iron.  Aluminum, glass and non-stick frying pans are basically crap.

If they have pre-seasoned, get that.

The more I hear about it, the more I think about emigrating.

I went for the el cheapo brand.  I got a full set of cookware, plus cooking utensils, for about $50.  This way I can abandon them when I leave China.  I have a good set of cookware in storage, that’ll be waiting for me when I return home.

How good?

I’ve got a kitchen that totally kicks ass, and I use it.  I can start yakking about cookware for a long time....

I’ve got a complete set of Wusthoff knives, and for the life of me I can’t remember the brand of frying pans I use, but they’re a good one.  Let’s just say I dumped a shitload of money at Bed, Bath, amd Beyond.

Wusthoff are the shit, no doubt about it.  There have been times I’ve seriously considered shelling out $600+ plus for a real Japanese sushi knife though.

My wife and I have an extensive collection of All Clad cookware intermingled with cast iron and enameled cast iron (Le Crueset).  I think there are only one or two anodized pieces in our kitchen, and then because they came in a set.

Our stuff usually comes from Macy’s (The Bon Marche’), Sur le Table, Mrs. Cooks, and various kitchen stores.  I try to stay out of BBB - too much cheap shit mixed in with the good stuff.
