Bai Bai
One thing I’ve noticed in my lifetime of traveling around the non-English speaking world. There are two English words which have managed to infuse themselves into virtually every language on the planet—okay and bye bye. Here in China you her people on phones saying “okay” all the time, and “bye” is especially easy for them to say since bai means “one hundred.”
I mentioned this at work today, and one of my Chinese said that she had begun to notice Chinese people saying “sorry” instead of the traditional debuqi. “Like on the bus, when there are many people, and they hit each other, they will say sorry in English.”
Of course, since they met me my employees know the meanings of such nouveaux-English words like metrosexual, nigga, manwhore, madskillz, and biatch.
